Situated on the Eastern side of the Himalayas, Bhutan is the only country in the world that has Vajrayana Buddhism as its state religion.
Throughout the centuries, great Tibetan and Indian masters such as Guru Padmasambava, Milarepa, Matchik Labdreun, Padampa Sangye and many others have marked the country spiritually.
The third Gyalwang Drukpa (15th century) established the Drukpa lineage in Bhutan through one of his disciples. Because of this, Bhutan is named “Drukyul”, the country of the dragon and its inhabitants are called “Drukpa”.
Today, the current king and Dje Khenpo, the spiritual leader of Bhutan, are working tirelessly to develop the country and preserve its natural and cultural riches.
During this pilgrimage to Bhutan, I will have the great pleasure of taking you to the east of the country, and more precisely, to Chungkar, my native region. We will then cross the country from east to west in car, going to Thimpu, the capital, while also discovering numerous villages and visiting several sacred sites: Tashigang, Trongsar, Punakha, Paro Taksang.
